Oh, I'm actually “cured” already. :) Thanks for answering, though, Jan!

I assumed it was something along those lines and waited for it to clear up; and it did, pretty quickly. It lasted for something like 30 hours.
I did feel immediately better right after I drank a re-hydration solution, though: 1L of water with 1 teaspoon of salt and 8 of sugar. It may have been coincidental, but still, it did help. Word to the wise! :)
And I do mean immediately: my stomach hurt and some two minutes after drinking some of that it stopped hurting. I started thinking that maybe the stomach pain is really due to de-hydration.

But thank you very much, Jan. :)

In reply to andre.

andre,

a bacterial food poisoning in otherwise healthy people usually lasts less than 5 days and heals on its own. In diarrhea it's important to drink enough water, and eat regularly (except if you feel uncomfortable with food). Foods high in fructose (apples, pears, cherries, plums) may aggravate diarrhea, especially if you have a low absorption limit for fructose.

Sulfur burps are due to hydrogen sulfide (H2S) produced by normal or pathogenic intestinal bacteria, when they break down proteins high in sulfur. So, sulfur burps could be caused just from excessive amount of proteins taken, or by bacterial food poisoning, intestinal parasites, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) or stomach infection with Helicobacter pylori, for example.

I can't evaluate the importance of yellow skin and eyes: Some people have naturally high blood level of bilirubin (Gilbert syndrome, which is a benign congenital disorder). When your skin becomes paler (due to dehydration caused by diarrhea, for example), the yellow color may become more apparent. A viral liver infection (hepatitis A) needs more than a week to result in an obvious illness with jaundice. A gallstone stuck in the bile duct could also cause jaundice.

If you do not get better in a couple of days, or if symptoms are worsening, go to the doctor, and you can discuss about conditions I've mentioned above.

My diet is composed of mainly fruit, dried fruits and vegetables. In special occasions (like new year's dinner, in this case), I allow myself to eat whatever there is to eat (in this case, shrimp cooked in three different ways, shellfish, a snail, some squid maybe not thoroughly cooked, after all of which I ate blueberries, cherries, a tangerine and an apple).
After this meal I felt ok, although the protein - I suspect - did make me a bit less energetic. Only a few hours after that, I woke up to find I was quite nauseous. I vomited - not everything I should have, I felt -, then I had a normal bowel movement and after that I've had diarrhoea persistently. I've since eaten toast, an apple, a pear, drank two different teas and now I'm eating toast and drinking camomile tea. Everything seems to go through me with accompanying colics.
One particular detail which seems to be important: my burps taste like rotten eggs, which, from what I gather, means they have sulphur, but I don't think my flatulence smells like that too.
People have told me I'm yellow, also; but I've always had a kind of a yellow tint to me, which I do not know if it's relevant or not. There has also always been, at least as far as I can remember, a slight yellow tinge on the outside of the white of my eyes.

So, what's wrong with me? Before this I was - at least apparently - completely healthy, I exercise regularly and can run 15Km or bike 30Km with no problem. Is it just bacterial diarrhoea?

Here you can read about https://www.healthhype.com/human-intestinal-parasites-symptoms-and-treatment.html.

Fungal infections of the mouth and esophagus are usually due to low immunity (like in AIDS) or corticosteroids or chemotherapeutic drugs in treating of cancer. Fungal infections do not likely appear as a result of food poisoning. Viral infections, like rotavirus infection, can cause the so called stomach flu, which may be transmitted by a stool-to-mouth root, but rarely by food.
