Hi Jossy. Yes, it can definitely be something serious and he should have been taken to the ER immediately. Even if he is feeling better now and there has been no repeat episodes, it is highly advisable that he seeks immediate medical attention.
In reply to <a href="https://healthhype.com/blood-in-the-mouth-causes-of-bleeding-from-the-mouth.html#comment-92909">Shanice Shaunte' Jefferson</a>.

Hi Shanice. It is possible that you have a recurrent infection of your sinuses which would account for most of your symptoms. In chronic infections you may not experience immediate relief as you would with acute infections. So continue with the antibiotics for the prescribed time. A second course of antibiotics may be required if your ENT deems it necessary. Once the CT is done then your ENT will have a clearer picture to diagnose the underlying problem. An elevated blood pressure can cause nosebleeds and headaches but this is not as common as you may think. It is more likely to occur with very elevated blood pressure (particularly the nosebleeds) but even so it is relatively uncommon. A sinus infection seems more likely. However, it is best to wait for the results of the CT scan before making any diagnosis. Do not stress about it as you have been experiencing it for a while. Take the medication, do the scan and wait and see what the next step will be as per your ENT's advice.

I seriously need help. Okay so first off I skydive. Don't know if that's related to what's going on. I've had a nosebleed issue when I was younger. Sinus trouble all that good stuff. Over the years my nosebleeds have stopped. 4 weeks ago I started having nosebleeds and it kept going down my throat as well. Even if I was sitting. Into to two weeks I started having headaches and pressure in my ear and eyes. I've been cauterized 6 times. The bleeding out my nose has stopped a bit. Every now and then I'll get a drip and then that's it. I've been to three ENTs and my pcp. Blood pressure is elevated but I don't have blood pressure issues so pcp put me on low dose of medicine. My recent ENT found ulcers in my nose and my tonsils a little infected. Blood is more pronounced every morning when I wake up. Like black blood with clots and I can't cough it out because it's stuck to my throat. My recent ENT put me on antibiotics for two weeks and then I'll get a CT done in which I'm freaking out. I've been on the antibiotics for 4 days and no signs of improvement. As anyone heard of this before? I'm constantly putting that flashlight down at my throat every morning in hopes it will be gone. The headaches are unreal. Some days it feels like a migrane some days it doesn't.

Hi Shanu. You definitely need to have this checked up. Even though you do not have other symptoms like pain or difficulty swallowing, it could still be a very serious cause. It is difficult to say for sure just by your symptoms. You should see your doctor and possibly consult with an ENT specialist if your family doctor feels it is warranted. Further tests may be necessary because there are so many possible conditions that could present with blood in the saliva.

Hi Mabel. You should be consulting with an otorhinolargyngologist (ENT specialist) and/or a pulmonologist at this point. It is important that you follow through with one doctor/specialist until the exact cause can be identified. As you can see from the article above, there are a number of different causes of bleeding in the mouth. While this could be a condition like strep pneumonia, you should have other symptoms at this point. Your doctor will be able to advise you accordingly.
