Hi Mariam. Start with your family doctor and let him/her examine this swelling. Based on the findings, your doctor could advise you on further tests before referring you to a specialist relevant to the problem that you have. It is difficult to say for sure through an online platform without knowing what the lump is and what could be causing the pain you report. Your doctor will advise you further.

Hi Tamira. This sounds like it's more than just bursitis and may be involving the shoulder joint, and possibly the joint with the clavicle as well. It could be arthritis of the joint or possibly a frozen shoulder but it has to be assessed by a medical professional to be sure. You should see an orthopedist. Speak to your doctor about a referral.

I have been having pain in both shoulders for a few years now with no know incident of trauma. It is mild in the morning, but very severe by the end of the day with any physical activity, even just standing for long periods of time. I have had an EMG as well as an MRI on my shoulder and cervical spine with no results. The source of the pain actually seems to be my collar bone. It gets swollen, and when I apply pressure it sends shooting pains to my shoulders. I'm only 30 years old so I find it strange to be in so much pain for so long. Do you have any ideas of what could be wrong. Thanks

Hi Marcus. This could be an inflamed lymph node but surely your doctor would have considered this. The fact that the xray and scan did not indicate any problem does not necessarily mean that all is clear. It may be advisable to consult with another doctor for a second opinion. Unfortunately we cannot say what may be causing this. Swelling is usually associated with inflammation but you do not mention any pain and so on. Rather seek a second opinion and if all clear then it may be nothing to worry about.
