Hi Susan. While carpal tunnel syndrome is a possibility, there are other conditions that may also need to be considered, such as ulnar neuritis or tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis). All of these conditions (including carap tunnel) need to be assessed by a medical professional and treated where necessary. Sometimes this may simply mean resting your arm, using a wrist or elbow support brace or using a more ergonomic keyboard and so on. The sooner you have this assessed and treated, the better the outcome. Speak to your doctor as soon as possible.

Hi JJ. It could be a recurrence but it could also be an entirely different condition apart from your shingles. Herpetic neuralgia, a complication of shingles, is unlikely to affect the area that you describe but it is a possibility. There is nevertheless a possibility that your shingles is recurring. You have to consult with your doctor and possibly follow up with a specialist like a neurologist.

I'm 28 and I had shingles last year. 2 days ago I started feeling pain on the inside of my forearm. It only hurts with touch. Is this nerve damage? It's on the same side as my shingles rash.

Hi Sasha. Hopefully you have sought medical advice for this pain. It can be difficult to identify the cause of the pain without any other symptoms. It can also be difficult to identify that it is coming from the bone as you mention. There are many causes of forearm pain as you can see from the article above. It is advisable that you speak to your doctor if they pain is persisting. Having it properly assessed by a doctor helps with reaching the final diagnosis as well as the appropriate treatment.

In reply to <a href="https://healthhype.com/forearm-pain-lower-arm-causes-muscles-bones-joints-nerves.html#comment-93078">Brandon Korhn</a>.

Hi Brandon. It is difficult to advise on a treatment without knowing the exact cause of this soreness. Overuse of the arm, like with playing a sport involving the arms as well as any repetitive or prolonged actions like holding up an object to the face (a book or a mobile device) could cause strain of the tendons and even pinch the nerve running in the area. Resting the arms would often relieve the soreness for a while. It is advisable that you have this checked by a doctor.

Every morning is when my arms hurt the most. I'm not sure if I keep my arms drawn up and bent during sleep or what, but when I straighten them out and stretch, they really ache. Growing old sucks. :(
