Hi N7. While this could just be due to your own error, it is a symptom worth considering. Hand weakness can occur for many reasons as you see above but this sudden onset needs to be investigated further. It could possibly be a nerve problem that could be chronic and this may just be the start of it. Speak to your doctor for further advice and possible tests that may be necessary.

Hi David. There are a number of conditions which can cause this. You may first want to consider compression of the nerve supplying this area. This compression can occur anywhere from the neck vertebrae (of the spine) where it originates or along its path down the arm. For example, weakess and tingling of the thumb, index finger and middle finger may occur in carpal tunnel syndrome where the median nerve is compressed. This could be one possible cause. Another possibility is that the problem is not with the nerves but with the joint or muscles. It is advisable that you consult with a doctor and possibly follow up with a neurologist.
