You would need to see a doctor and possibly undergo diagnostic tests for a conclusive answer. However, you may be looking at a condition like sciatica where the sciatic nerve is compressed. This may cause pain at the back, across the buttock and down to the leg on the affected side but numbness is also a symptom. Your doctor will be able to advise you further.
