After following up it has been determined I have eczema. Hose is dry and may have caused tbis flare up. Humidifier on and running. Skin is feeling better. Thank you for your imput.

Hi since I posted the affected area has healed and then started to itch on the inside of the hand close to the previously affected area..thanks for the info

Hi Bette. It is advisable to avoid any make up for a few weeks until the dermatitis resolves. Thereafter you should speak toyour dermatologist about brands that may better suit your skin. These brands may vary from country to country. Ultimately though, avoiding makeup as far as possible is still the priority.

Hi Anthony. This could be a fungal infection and an antibacterial cream will not work. Fungal infections of the skin and in areas like between the fingers are common. An antifungal cream is usually sufficient to resolve the infection and oral medication is not usually needed. However, it is advisable that you speak to a doctor who can examine the area. It may be some other skin problem.

Thank you . I saw my dermatologist and she confirmed it is contact dermatitis. Stopped using all creams, make up changed to Dove soap for sensitive skin, prescribed a low dose steroid. 5 days later pretty much cleared up. Returning in 2 weeks for follow up. Will discuss what make up to use chemical free. Any suggestions on make up for sensitive skin?

HI Bette. Firstly you have to consult with a dermatologist to verify whether this is contact dermatitis caused by your hairspray as you say. It could be some other skin condition and the hairspray was just exacerbating the symptoms. We cannot suggest any treatment or change to your treatment as it is against our policy. This has to be discussed with a medical professional in person. Do not delay to seek medical treatment as soon as possible or complications could possibly arise which may be difficult to treat. With regards to the barrier cream, there are several on the market. Ask your pharmacist about one that is mild, without any fragrance and if it is suitable to use on babies with eczema then it will be safe for you to use on yourself. If necessary, you can use petroleum jelly as a temporary barrier application.

I have stopped using the spray and keep my hair up to aid healing. I have been using various creams and none seem to help. I have used cortaid and also alvino has a product for excezma that I tried. My rash burns when I use these products. Is that normal. Should I try an antiobiotic cream instead like Neosporin? I also have betamethasone prescribed for a rash a long time ago. I have fair skin and a lot of seasonal allergies. Also wondering what product you would recommend as a barrier while this heals. Thank you. Bette
