Every spring for the last 3 years, I wake up one day in the morning with dizziness. 3 years ago the dizziness, vertigo and nausea feeling lasted 2 full days. I had to stay in bed the whole time. Last year it happened again...same feeling along with a wissing sound in my ear. Feeling only lasted for a day. Went and saw ENT doctor next day, after I was feeling better , he checked and nothing. Today, i have this feeling again. Its milder, but i am feeling dizzy. I noticed 2 things: this happening around the same time every year (beginning of Spring) and it happens after a night of eating out and drinking alcohol (i do this all the time but nothing usually happens). Could this be allergic?

Hi Cristina. Although you are relatively young, you cannot exclude conditions like an impending stroke. It can present with symptoms similar to what you have described for weeks or months before an actual stroke occurs. Of course, this is just one possibility and a very serious condition. Hopefully it is something less serious, like postural hypotension (low blood pressure with changes in body position), conditions like Meniere's disease or an inner ear infection. However, it could also be more serious like a stroke as mentioned and other equally serious and even life-threatening conditions. The only way to know for sure is to have it checked by your doctor.

I rarely gets dizziness, nausea, vertigo, loss of balance when I wake up in the morning. It has only occurred twice in my adult life, I'm 28 years old. The two times it felt awful and took a few minutes until it was over, but I couldn't even walk, I felt I was going to fall down and throw up. Sometimes I also hear a high pitched sound in my right ear and only once, that I can recall I have almost fainted from dizziness while just doing regular things, this didn't happen when I woke up. I'm sure I should go get that checked out by my doctor. But, for now I want an input about this all thank you.

Hi Ashley. You definitely need to get this checked out. It may be unrelated to your car accident 5 years ago - those symptoms could have been due to a concussion or post-concussion syndrome. What you may be experiencing now may be due to an entirely different condition. This could be what's known as postural hypotension where the blood pressure does not adapt as rapidly to the change in position (from lying down to standing up). But it could also be due to other more serious conditions which only your doctor will be able to diagnose.

Just about every time I wake up or get up from lying down I am really dizzy and loopy. It usually lasts from just a few minutes to up to half an hour or an hour. I even fainted one time when I got up from a nap and ended up twisting my ankle and hitting my head on a door knob. I also feel really confused when I get up and the room feel a like it's spinning.
About 5 years ago I was in a car accident that sent me to the hospital with a concussion. I was bleeding behind my right ear and I couldn't hear anything out of that side. I still haven't gotten my hearing back since the accident. All of this started not too long after I recovered, so do you think that might be the cause? Or should I get this checked out?

Hi Panda. There are many possible causes of dizziness as you can see from the article above. When it occurs in children then it could be an ear infection or vertigo but there are also other possible causes including nutritional deficiencies, insufficient sleep and so on. It would be advisable that you speak to your family doctor as the children would need to be assessed by a medical professional.

I would get vertigo so severe I could not even sit up I would fall and throw up! Xanax Xr is the only thing that worked and my dr. Thought it was brought on by stress and I thought he said a defect in the inner ear. My daughter had been very sick and I did not know what was wrong so that was part of the issue. I took for two years and then weaned myself off and have been fine for a few years. Meclizine makes me sick!!!

Howdy, she just got back all sorts of results including some sort of massive blood tests. Nothing at all was even close to abnormal. I think a major body can of some sort is now being asked for
