Hi Christy. No it cannot. Amoxicillin is an antibiotic and can only be used to treat bacterial infections. While it is a very effective and widely used antibiotic, it cannot effectively treat all bacterial infections. It is effective for the bacteria involved in most respiratory tract infections, but the specific antibiotic should be prescribed for the bacteria in question. 

Dosage will also determine its effectiveness in the treatment of an infection. It is very important that you NEVER self-medicate when it comes to bacterial infections. The misuse of antibiotics over the years has largely contributed to drug-resistant strains (&#039;superbugs&#039;). See a doctor or speak to a pharmacist.]]></description>
