Hi Charles. There are few digestive conditions where the symptoms can worsen with stress. Acid reflux (GERD), gastritis, peptic ulcers are a few that should be considered. Nausea and discomfort are common symptoms in these conditions. IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) is another possibility but usually affects the lower digestive tract and symptoms like constipation or diarrhea may occur. It would be advisable that she consults with a doctor and possibly seen a gastroenterologist. Investigations like an upper GI endoscopy may be necessary to identify the problem before treatment is prescribed.

My fiancee has had a very sensitive stomach for some time now and it seems as if she is constantly suffering from discomfort and feeling of nausea. This seems to become more acute whenever even the slightest bit of stress is present or she becomes upset or frustrated. Apparently she has tried a number of things to try and resolve the problem, but it never seems to go away.
Suggestions? (Ps; Egg allergy, so she doesn't go near them).

Thank you so much for responding. I can say absolutely that it's not pregnancy. I went to see one of my actual practicing Doctors and he said to also get on probiotics and was fairly dismissive when I asked if I should have some tests run. I'll make an appmt with my PCP. Thanks again for your help!

Hi Leanne. Hopefully you have excluded possibilities like pregnancy irrespective of your past history of similar problems. It definitely would be advisable that you undergo further tests and investigations considering you have been suffering with this for so long. It's more likely to be an upper gastrointestinal problem and your symptoms could be indicative of some obstruction within the stomach or bowels. A similar type of problem seen in children is known as cyclic vomiting syndrome but the cause of it is largely unknown. Really difficult to say with any certainty until the results of appropriate investigations is available.

So I've always had a sensitive stomach. I've been throwing up with constant nausea usually 1 or 2 times a year for as long as I can remember. It's July 8, 2015 and it's happened 3 times since March. First time the nausea and vomiting lasted about 12 hrs. 2nd time, it lasted 30ish hours and this last time (13 days ago) lasted over 72 hours. Each time it has been an entirely different food. A friend of mine who is a retired Dr. He suggested probiotics before I make an appmt with a Dr. to run tests. Anyone have any more info or suggestions?? Everytime this happens it takes a good week before I feel well enough to work, as my job is very physical. Thanks to anyone willing to share with me!
