Hi Victoria. Sudden swelling of the fingers or hands definitely needs to be assessed by a doctor. It could be due to a host of conditions from injury to muscle strain, joint diseases, blood vessel problems or even heart and kidney disorders. A number of factors need to be taken into consideration along with the results of a physical examination and diagnostic investigations. Only then can the reason for the swelling be identified. As you can see, you definitely will need to consult with a doctor.

i have worn the same ring for years, however yesterday i noticed the ring on my middle finger was starting to cut in and my finger was starting to swell, it got so bad i ended up having to get the ring cut off. today my finger between the knuckles is still swollen and red, the indent where the ring was is also still clearly visable. now i dont want to bother the doctors about it if its nothing but i am kind of worried.
