For just short of three weeks now, I've been having the feeling of a knot in my throat which started one evening shortly after dinner. I figured it was indigestion and took a pill for it (OTC) and shrugged it off. The next day, it was still there and has been ever since. However, I do have days where it's not nearly as noticeable than others. It feels better while I eat so I'm assuming there's no actual lump in my throat. It feels quite low or deep down in there though. It also produces small, shallow burps occasionally. Sometimes it feels swollen down there. As a former smoker (15 years) who only quit coincidentally right before this started, I obviously fear some type of throat cancer. Note, this feeling of a knot, or heaviness, low down in my throat accompanied by pressure or tiny little burps here and there are my only symptoms. No pain, no sore throat, no hoarseness. I'm just concerned due to my smoking history and because while it doesn't seem to be getting worse, it also doesn't seem to be getting better either. I do have an appointment with my ENT, but the soonest they could get me in is next month. And ideas of what can be causing thing? And what is the likelihood that it could be cancer?
