Carrie, my situation sounds most like yours. Mine was a vaginal surgery so I just assumed the dr took out cervix and 1 ovary. It happened about 16 yrs. ago and just recently I have started bleeding, some dark blood but mostly clots and bright blood. I have also begun to have horrible cramps that feel like just really bad menstrual cramps which is impossible to have. Dr. told me I should have only one atrophied ovary left, nothing else. I have also had upward spikes of pain into the vagina that feels like an icepick being thrust up inside of me. Just luckily one day I was bleeding pretty heavily so he did a pelvic exam,He said it was definitely coming from my vagina, the incision from my hysterectomy specifically. So the next time i visit his office he is going to cauterize the incision. What bothers me about this is how can it explain the cramping/pain? Idk, I just thought any of you might have some ideas.

Hi, I had a LAVH partial hysterectomy on September 13th. My ovaries were left in by my request since no history of cancer. I've suffered with Endometriosis and Fibroids since I was 21 years old and had four previous surgeries for that. I also had severe cramping, heavy bleeding and irregular periods. I'm 44 years old and was never able to have children. My Hysterectomy surgery was a nightmare and I had complications during such of excessive blood loss. I woke up in severe pain after my surgery and was admitted to the hospital. I later fainted several times but I'm still in quite a bit of pain. I'm changing my pad daily because of blood which I was told is normal after a hysterectomy. However today I noticed fresh blood in my urine and it's not getting any lighter. I still have abdominal pain as well as pain felt deep inside my vagina. I feel as if I'm being stabbed in my vagina and a deep feeling pain when I urinate. I had felt as if I pulled something in my lower left abdominal area, right near my one port incision from surgery. I also had a bruise in that area the size of two grapefruits put together and it's now slowly going away. I'm very concerned about the pain with fresh bleeding present and not sure what to do? It's the middle of the night and I know I can't drive myself to the ER in this pain right now. I should mention I have been very careful as to not lift anything over 5 pounds, nor have I had Intercourse. Should I be alarmed, what could it possibly be? Thank you for your time.

Hello I am a 45 year old who had my uterus removed in 2012. I have had vaginal bleeding on and off every year since then. Some times it is just spotting and others it is a little heavier. It starts and usually stops. I had this problem last year and the doctor said that I had some problems with my cervics but not to worry, it would correct itself. The bleeding stopped but now it has started back as of yesterday and the cramping is killing me. The bleeding start as just spotting when I wiped now it is pink and heavier. The doctor prescribed ciprofloxacin for a UTI that I was not diagnosed with but called and said I had pain when I had to urinated and barely was peeing when it felt like I had to go urgently. Now I am spotting again and I would like to know if it could be the antibiotics causing this or something more serious. I will be contacting my primary care doctor on Monday. Because I haven't had cramps in a very long time. It only happens when I have the bleeding. And I haven't had the bleeding in over two years since the last time. Should I be concerned or is this something I will have to look forward to for more years to come.

I am 41 and 8 weeks post hysterectomy. Was done on August 24th. Complete hysterectomy was done (uterus, ovaries, tubes as well as two large tumors on my right side were removed). Whenever I lie on my right side too long I'll start spotting. Yesterday it was a couple of drops of fresh blood while on the toilet. I told my doctor about this at my 6 week check up and she was rather nonchalant about it. This never happens when I lay in my left side, only my right. What could cause this?

In reply to <a href="https://healthhype.com/vaginal-bleeding-after-hysterectomy-surgery.html#comment-92067">Chelsea</a>.

Hi Chelsea

I too had an hysterectomy about 4 weeks ago today. I was spotting a few days after an nothing for about 1 week. Then all of a sudden I started bleeding and it has not stop. It's been about 3 weeks now and to this day I have yet to receive an answer from my surgeon why I'm bleeding. He ran blood test and a urine test. Gave me antibiotics and gave me Uricalm I was to take for 5 days and her it is day 7 and I'm still bleeding and have stomach pain around my incision. This is crazy and I really didn't want this surgery. Ithe took me 1 year to have the surgery and I was told I needed the surgery because my 1 fibroid was as big as a newborn baby head. Come to find out it was as big as a baby watermelon and not to mention I had a total.of 9. Not the 1 that the GYN was seizing for over a year and a half. Sad. I go back to the Dr in October. If I find more information I'll let you know good luck to you

I had a hysterectomy, will be 10 years on 08/24/15 at the age of 20 due to endometriosis and pre cancerous cervical cells. I have had few problems over the years with pain and spotting. Here in the last month or so after intercourse I bleed, and it's not light its like moderate period. I am not sure what to do, other than pray and wait for a appt. Are there any suggestions on what it might be??

Hi my name is Candace.
I am 26 years old. I had a hysterectomy three months ago due to abnormal bleeding following a cone biopsy of my cervix. I had precancerous cells removed. I had three operations afterwards in hopes to stop the unexplained bleeding. My concern now is, as I mentioned its been three months since my hysterectomy and every time I have intercourse I bleed extremely bad. So bad that I have to wear a pad for the remainder of the night so I dont mess up my sheets. I also experience pain in my abdomen and sometimes my ovaries. Please shed some light for me, will I ever be normal again? Should this be alarming? Thanks in advance!!
